What proportion of a picture should a picture light take up?
When choosing the correct size picture light for illuminating a picture, you should opt for a picture light that is at least half the size of the frame and closer to two thirds of the size of the picture. This allows for the picture light to cover the propertion of the artwork, otherwise it will look too small and out of place. We recommend that a wall light is installed roughly between 6 and 7 inches above the from of the photo.
What colour rendering is best for led picture lights?
We stock a range of led picture lights available in both warm white and cool white colour renderings. Warm white is often favoured with most picture lights, as it offers a cosy, more subtle light as often picture lights are used as an ambient light which highlights the photo as opposed to adding general light. If you are after a crisper brighter look, maybe more modern, then a cool white may be more preferable. Many of our picture lights can be dimmed allowing you to select the right level of light for your image, which is also a popular option for many.
Are picture lights adjustable?
Many of our picture lights are easily adjusted allowing you to direct the light in the direction of the picture. Picture lights often boast a frame which angles back allowing you to promote the portrait. Not all picture lights are adjustable but a large proportion are.
