Most smart lamps rely on a wifi connection to get the most out of there features, however bluetooth smart lamps and lightbulbs are also available. The majority of wifi smartlamps include a bluetooth back up. With wifi smart lighting, these items can be controlled anywhere if you have a wifi connection (Providing the light has power - unless solar/wireless), whereas bluetooth products will only be able to controlled in a small area where you are in the bluetooth connection rang.
