The founder was a young art student. Working on a project “lighting for the home” he recognised there was little choice or modern design in home lighting products. Inspired by his summer travels to create handwoven lampshades he started his mission to bring beauty and choice to the lighting market. By taking his products to his customers himself in his small van he learned the incredible importance of building a relationship with his customers and understanding the person searching for their perfect light. Only by really understanding what was wanted could he provide it. From this lesson he built up a reputation for unusual and desirable products and great customer service. där lighting was born and the rest, as they say, is history.
där lighting is still a family business who have been based in Banbury since 1974 and grown steadily by pursuing their mission of bringing good design and inspiration to home lighting. Today their team of young British designers share this passion. By tapping into world design movements through travel, international design shows and festivals they follow fashion, material and interior trends, always looking ahead to the next season.
